Following in the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Thursday asked the officials to come up with new ideas to help the state government in providing good governance. Patel celebrated the 'Good Governance Day' here by launching DTH channels of state government on subjects like education, skill development an empowerment. Addressing the officials, she asked them to develop a broader vision about what they want to do for the society.

"To develop such vision, you need to come up with new ideas and share them with government, just like our PM encouraged his Cabinet members and officials to share new ideas with him about governance," Patel said in her address, which was broadcast simultaneously in all district collectorate offices. We like the already established style because it is very easy to follow. But Narendra Modi, when he was CM, came up with new ideas and changed the scenario of Gujarat," she said.

On the occasion, state Chief Secretary D J Pandian asked the senior officials to make sure that benefits of good governance reach those who needed them the most.

"Make sure that benefits of government schemes reach the beneficiaries in time. When government has already passed budget for a particular scheme, there should not be any delay in implementing it at your end," said Pandian.

State Science and Technology Department Secretary S J Haider announced several new initiatives for the people under their new e-governance policy for 2014-19.

"At present, we provide around 500 different services through different e-platforms, such as Gujarat State Wide Area Network (GSWAN), eGram, eGujCop, etc. In near future, we are going to add more services on these platforms. We will also make use of mobile governance as well as social media platforms to connect with people," said Haider.
