The state government on Monday transferred 40 Gujarat Administrative Services (GAS) officers, appointing them to the newly-created post of additional resident collector in all districts, and to other posts. The fresh round of transfers comes less than a month after 169 junior-scale GAS officers were reshuffled by the state government.

The director of consumer affairs, Gujarat State, KK Doodhat has been transferred and appointed as additional resident collector, Ahmedabad. DB Mehta, joint commissioner, schools & mid-day meals, Gandhinagar, has been transferred and appointed as additional resident collector, Gandhinagar.

A total of 40 GAS officers have been moved in the latest reshuffle. Besides additional resident collectors, officers have also been posted as directors of rural development agency in various districts.

Officials said that the post of additional resident collector has been created by merging posts of additional district collector and resident deputy collector. The post has been created with the aim to strengthen the administrative structure as part of Aapno Taluko, Vibrant Taluko (ATVT) scheme.

“Earlier, government had transferred resident deputy collectors, but not named replacements. The post has been scrapped and merged with that of additional district collector to create the new post of additional resident collector,” said an official.

The transfer orders of 16 deputy secretaries and under secretaries in different government departments were also issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on Monday.
