GST workshop for babus held

Speaking on the occasion, chief secretary Ashok Jain said that having knowledge of the GST is essential for the administrative officers.

A workshop for the officers of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) on GST law and its provisions was organised on Friday by RAS association. Speaking on the occasion, chief secretary Ashok Jain said that having knowledge of the GST is essential for the administrative officers. He said that the knowledge of the provisions of the new taxation law will help the officers in carrying out their responsibilities.

Addressing the RAS officers, who were present in large numbers at the Harishchandra Mathur Rajasthan Institute of Public Administration (OTS), Jain pointed out that GST has affected the lives of people in direct as well as indirect way. He called upon the RAS officers to carry the message to the public that GST is a law of utility.

Additional chief secretary of finance DB Gupta, who also addressed the RAS officers referred to famous economist Adam Smith to explain the new taxation law. Speaking about the sayings of Smith, Gupta said that he said that tax should be such which is easy to be collected and enough revenue can be collected from tax.

“GST fulfills this principle. With the implementation of GST, the government will get enough funds for carrying out the public welfare scheme and for the creation of basic infrastructure,” he said.

Prior this, in his welcome address President of RAS association Pawan Arora, said that the objective of the workshop was to provide detailed information of GST to RAS officers and to clear their doubts. He said that with the implementation of this law, the taxation process has become easy.

48 ras officers promoted

48 RAS officers promoted to the super time scale. As many as 48 RAS officers were promoted in the super time scale on Friday. An order issued by the department of personnel (DOP) says that on the recommendation of departmental promotion committee (DPC), these RAS officers have been promoted to this grade. The DPC was constituted under the RAS service rules of 1952 rule 32. Three positions of RAS officers in this grade have been kept vacant as the annual work evaluation report of RAS officers Onkar Mal, Lakshmi Kant Balot and Abha Jain has been not completed. In the order issued by the principal secretary of DOP Sanjay Malhotra, all the officers have been asked to keep working on the present post.
