The West Bengal government today offered a job to the wife of a deceased person whose death due to alleged medical negligence at a private hospital rocked the state.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee handed over the job offer letter to Dankuni-resident Sanjay Roy's wife Ruby Roy at the state secretariat Nabanna, officials said adding that she was appointed in the state tourism department.

Coming out of the secretariat, Ruby said, "I am indebted to Mamata Banerjee. The chief minister told me that she being like my mother is offering the job... She also assured me of proper investigation into my husband's death." Sanjay Roy, who was admitted to the hospital after being injured in a road accident last month, died allegedly because of medical negligence.

The state government formed a committee to look into the matter while on the basis of a complaint lodged by Roy's family at the Phoolbagan police station, police were also conducting an investigating into the matter.
