Senior union cabinet ministers - Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj - played down the ISIS threat on Wednesday claiming that there is no reason to be worried on this count as Indian ethos and culture have ensured that the menace does not take dangerous proportions in the country.

Responding to questions in Lok Sabha, Swaraj said, fifty radicalised youths have crossed over to the "other side" but did not specify their locations.

She said the Centre has already launched an anti-radicalisation programme with states to ensure that the youths are not misled.

Crediting "Indian ethos and culture for the minimal damage radicalisation has caused", she said secularism, the watchful eyes of parents and the belief that violence is not good, have helped the country.

Swaraj informed the House that India is set to host a conference of ASEAN nations on de-radicalisation but the venue is yet to be finalised. Besides de-radicalisation, cross-border terrorism would be the other topic of the conference.

She said the government would consider the positive suggestion of Asaduddin Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen that 'Ulemas' (Muslim scholars) of ASEAN countries should also be invited as they have successfully helped check radicalisation in their respective nations.

Responding on similar lines in the Rajya Sabha, union home minister Rajnath Singh said, "The country need not be worried regarding activities of the ISIS. When few boys are caught with information that they have been radicalised, we start the process of counter radicalising them.

Responding to the queries, minister of state for home, Hansraj Ahir praised the Muslim religious heads for their invocation to the youth not to join such outfits.
