Government has launched a national action plan for skill training of persons with disabilities to improve vocational training and employment opportunities for differently-abled people.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot said in Lok Sabha that the action plan will bring all main stakeholders like various central government ministries, state governments, NGOs, PSUs and private sector on one platform.

Under the action plan, vocational or skill training would be provided to persons with disabilities by a network of skill training providers led by training partners both from government and non-government sector including vocational rehabilitation centres run by Labour and Employment Ministry.

These training partners should have an established track record of providing excellent training in the past with high employability ratio, he said.

The Minister said a separate Sector Skill council for persons with disabilities was being created in collaboration with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

"For every such training cluster, a number of private sector organisations and PSUs would be mapped, who would provide them corporate social responsibility funds and training support and employment connect," he said.
