In an unforseen tragedy, the Gorakhpur Express collided with a stationary freight train in the district.
The incident in which many are feared to be dead did not go unnoticed by Narendra Modi, who is to be sworn in later today who tweeted his condolences for the accident's victims.
Spoke to the Cabinet Secretary. Asked him to take an overview of the situation & ensure timely assistance to those injured.

At least 20 passengers were today feared killed as the Gorakhdham Express rammed into a stationary freight train in the district. Read more
According District Magistrate Bharat Lal, the incident was caused by the train coming on to the same track as a freight train, however I the opinion of Alok Singh, NE Railway's CPRO, the accident was due to derailment.
