The first session of the 16th Lok Sabha was held on Wednesday before which the former Union Minster for Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath took oath as the protem speaker for the Lok Sabha at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

At the first session of Lok Sabha, after the national anthem, Nath asked the members to observe silence to pay tribute to the deceased Union Minister Gopinath Munde, who died on Tuesday in a tragic car accident.
