While Congress is hopeful of retaining power, the BJP leaders too seem very confident of getting a clear majority in Assembly elections. BJP’s state vice president and Civil Lines candidate Arun Chaturvedi on Saturday said that his party would be getting a clear majority as the charisma of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and state chief Vasundhara Raje has worked in the state.
“There is no point in debating as which party will form the new government. If public sentiments are a barometer, it’s the BJP which will win with a clear majority,” said Chaturvedi. The party had fielded Chaturvedi against Congress legislator Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in Civil Lines constituency. Chaturvedi said that his claims were not based on any exit poll or media report but it was the general sentiments and mood of the people which hinted that the BJP would win the Assembly elections by a landslide.
When asked to comment over the allegations levelled by Congress party that BJP was promoting confusion by managing satta (betting) market and media reports, Chaturvedi said that he does not want to comment on this as it showed the frustration of ruling Congress.
Chaturvedi said that anti-people policies of UPA government have resulted in problems like inflation and corruption which were directly affecting the common man. “Besides, the non-performance of the state government also led to resentment among people,” Chaturvedi said.
“People feel BJP and its leaders only can provide some solace. Be it inflation or corruption, it has hit the common man to a great extent. The state government too failed to perform well. In all, it’s BJP everywhere, be it in Assembly or at Central level,” he added.
