The Goa Police on Monday said they have been unable to trace absconding former Minister Fransisco Miccky Pacheco who has been convicted in an assault case and faces arrest as a local court sought update on the case.
The court asked police to update it tomorrow about steps taken to trace Pacheco who faces six-month imprisonment for assaulting a junior engineer of the Electricity Department in 2006. His conviction has been upheld by the Supreme Court.
Judicial Magistrate First Class at Margao Puja Kavlekar directed the Inspector of Colva Police Station to remain present at 10 am with complete details of steps taken since April 9 to arrest the legislator.
The original offence against the controversial Goa politician, who is on the run since April 9 after resigning from Cabinet early this month, was lodged with Colva police.
Police returned the arrest warrant to the court stating the Goa Vikas Party President, whose party is part of the BJP-led government, remains untraceable despite all their efforts to track him.
