A Goa government official, who is also a close relative of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, has been arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, police said on Wednesday.

Dilip Malvankar, a field officer attached to Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and brother-in-law of Parsekar, was arrested by the ACB last evening while accepting the bribe that he had sought to allot a plot at Tuem Industrial estate, police spokesman John Aguiyar said. Another officer, Ajit Gaunekar, attached to GIDC was also arrested along with Malvankar in this case, he added.

Talking to PTI over the case, Parsekar said, "He (Malvankar) is related to me. But I will not interfere in the investigations. I have so many relatives, I don't keep a track on what they do."

Jaipur-based industrialist Sanjay Kumawat had been allotted an industrial plot to manufacture Ayurvedic medicines at Tuem Industrial Estate in 2012. However, he alleged that Malvankar and Gaunekar were creating hurdles in giving the possession of the land.

The duo has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Aguiyar added.
