Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar may soon replace Arun Jaitley as the new Defence Minister of India, who holds additional charge of the ministry.

According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to expand the union cabinet tomorrow and may appoint Parrikar as the defence minister.

Reports also suggest, Parrikar will arrive in Delhi today late in the evening to meet PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah.​

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday met Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah amidst talks of Cabinet expansion.

Parrikar refused to divulge details of the meeting and said, "I can comment on it only after meeting the Prime Minister. Let the Prime Minister who has invited me comment."
Parrikar will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.
