GJM chief Bimal Gurung breaks silence after being named by CBI in the Madan Tamang murder case

Gurung claimed that he and several others, who were named in the chargesheet are being made the victims of political vendetta

Twenty four hours after Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung was named in the final supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI in connection to the alleged murder of Madan Tamang, he broke silence on this entire issue on Saturday afternoon.

Gurung claimed that he and several others, who were named in the chargesheet are being made the victims of political vendetta. “We are victims of political vendetta and are being framed in this case. I have hope in our judiciary and I know for sure that we will be proven innocent. Justice will be served to us,” said Gurung. 

On Friday, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against the Morcha chief Gurung, his wife, sitting MLA from Kalimpong, Harkabahadur Chhetry and 20 others in connection to the alleged murder of Tamang, President of Akhil Bharatiya Gorkha League in 2010.

Besides Gurung, CBI also filed a chargesheet against the then office bearers of GJM - assistant general secretary Binoy Tamang, vice president Pradeep Pradhan, general secretary Roshan Giri and, two others Devendra Sharma and Dinesh Theeng have also been named in the chargesheet.

Meanwhile, sources in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration have revealed that the top leadership of GTA have sought help from the BJP leaders. Gurung had reportedly called upon S S Ahluwalia, the BJP MP from Darjeeling. Sources add that the BJP leadership including Ahluwalia has asked GTA members not to resort to any agitation on the hills and let law take its own course
