Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally intervened to ensure justice to a young Muslim school-going girl who was being stalked by a goon in Uttar Pradesh. Modi intervened after the girl wrote to him last week, requesting him to save her from the ordeal.

In her letter to the PM, the girl, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, had said that even though a case was registered by the Muzaffarnagar police on August 12, no action was taken against the accused, Abdullah Rana, who was also putting pressure on her family to withdraw the case.

The victim alleged that Rana was not only eve-teasing but had also tried to abduct her while she was going to school in an auto rickshaw.

She appealed to Modi to save her so that she could continue her studies.

"Immediate action was taken after the victim wrote to the Prime Minister. The impact of the quick direction by the Prime Minister was that that the local police took immediate cognisance of the case and the accused was arrested on September 19. He is languishing behind bars," a source in the government said.
