Girl gangraped in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas

A 19-year-old girl was gangraped at Gaighata in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, police said today.

According to the FIR filed by the girl's family, she was called out of her home by a person on January 10 evening and gangraped by three persons. She later returned home on her own and related the incident to her family. The FIR was lodged yesterday. District Superintendent of Police Tanmoy Roychowdhury said the police has arrested the three accused.

Police security has been provided to the girl and she was being provided with counselling to overcome the trauma. The district had witnessed the gangrape of a girl in October. The girl had died of burns allegedly after she was set on fire by her tormentors in her home in December. The girl's death and rape had rocked several parts of Kolkata.
