An 18-year-old girl who stayed at a shelter home in the national Capital alleged that she was sexually harassed by the manager of a company where she was sent to work by the shelter home.

According to the police, the girl was abandoned by her parents during her childhood. She was living at the Udaan Rose Children Home for Girls in the Kamla Nagar area. The girl in her complaint told the police that Dinesh Kumar who worked at Speagle Corporation would speak to her in an inappropriate manner and had on one occasion touched her on her back in May 2018. The girl joined the company on April 1, 2018, as a minor and left the job on June 30, 2018. The girl in her complaint also said that the accused would indulge in dirty talk with her and speak about sex as well.

The girl has been living at the shelter home since 2015. The caretaker of the shelter home had sent her to train at the company as they had a tie-up with them. The girl feared to complain earlier as she did not want to lose the job. The girl had told her friends at the shelter home about the incident who asked her to tell the counsellor. After the counsellor was informed, the matter was reported to the police.

"Since the company is located in Naraina, the complaint was submitted at Naraina police station. The accused Dinesh Kumar was arrested," said a police officer. A case under section under Sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 354A of the Indian penal code (sexual harassment) was registered," said a police officer.
