Ghaziabad: IPS Sanjeev Tyagi's father found dead with gunshot injury

Father of a UP cadre IPS Sanjeev Tyagi was found dead with a gunshot injury on his head under mysterious circumstances at his Ghaziabad residence on Thursday. The police said that the family members rushed the victim to a private hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The exact cause behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. The police said that one of deceased's son is 'out of contact' and his mobile phone is switched off after the incident.

The police said that the deceased's body has been sent for post-mortem examination to the district hospital. The police are investigating the case from all angles.

Police said that IPS officer Sanjeev Tyagi is posted in Lucknow while his father Ishwar Tyagi, 65, was residing at Sector-2 in the upscale Raj Nagar area in Ghaziabad with the whole family.

“Exact cause is yet to be ascertained. Either it is a suicide or some other incident. We have come to know that there were previous cases of some altercations within the family. The deceased's younger son is undergoing treatment for mental disorder. However, the family members are not speaking much about the incident. One son of the victim is out of contact. His mobile phone is switched off,” Manish Mishra, deputy superintendent of police told DNA.

“We have formed teams and have launched an investigation. The deceased was living in a joint family. The victim was found dead with a suspected bullet injury in his head. We are expecting to get the autopsy report by today evening,” Mishra said.
