Haven’t been tagged ‘officially married’ yet? Your wait is over. Now you will have to just walk up to the nearest e-Mitra kiosk and submit your papers. No need to run around tedious babus at the government offices.

When your papers are processed at the other end, you will get a message to prove your identity and collect them. That’s it!

The District administration of Jaipur has taken the online route to make the process of the marriage registration simpler. Under the new system, e-Mitra kiosks will become the collection point of all relevant documents required for getting a marriage certificate. Any couple interested in getting their marriage registered will now have to provide the copy of various documents substantiating the proof of marriage to the person present at the kiosk.

The documents would be scanned and sent to the concerned authority in the district administration. Once the formalities are completed, the person applying for the registration would get a message on his mobile number informing him about the date and time of appointment at the collectorate.

“On the designated date, the married couple should carry the original documents and once the officer meets them personally, the registration process will be completed,” said district collector Krishna Kunal, adding, “The initiative will save a lot of time for

people who simply postpone the work of getting their marriage certificates because of the cumbersome process.”

However, this facility will be available only for the couples living in the country and NRI’s won’t be able to benefit from it.

How it will be done
Applicants will go to nearest e-Mitra kiosk and submit copy of documents, identity proof etc and photographs at the counter

Man at the counter will scan and send the documents to relevant desk at the Collectorate

Applicant will receive SMS asking him to come to collectorate with original documents and collect his marriage certificate
