Just a few days after 15 public holidays in schools in Uttar Pradesh were cancelled, a CBSE  affiliated school in Meerut has passed certain orders to prevent love jihad in the educational institution.

According to a Times of India report, Rishabh Academy Co-Educational English Medium School has asked students to not keep beards, not carry non-vegetarian food, practise gender segregation and get hairstyles similar to that of CM Yogi Adityanath.

Explaining the provision, Ranjeet Jain, secretary, management committee, told the daily, "This is being done for the safety of girls and to prevent love jihad. Muslim boys take on names similar to Hindus, befriend girls, tie kalavas on their wrists and try to woo girls. I cannot tolerate this in school premises. Moreover, these days nobody likes if a boy from one community touches a girl from another community."

Further justifying their stand, Jain went on to add that the students are asked to not keep beards because the school is "not a madrassa or a place where they come to offer namaz."

In their defence, the management claimed that the school was run by a Jain trust, hence non-vegetarian food (including eggs) were prohibited in the school premises.

Speaking about 'Yogi Adityanath style haircut', Jain added that since students did not understand that the school wanted Army cut, they specified the CM's name.

As soon as Adityanth took office more than a month ago, he introduced Anti-Romeo squads to check incidents of eve-teasing. Calling for law and order, anti-Romeo squads have been doing the rounds in various parts of the state. While people have criticised the move, there are a vast majority in the state who believe that such squads will ensure women are safe.
