RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat yet again came in support of gau rakshaks (cow vigilantes) in his Vijaydashmi speech in Nagpur on Saturday.

Addressing the swayamsevaks at the RSS Headquarters, the Sarsanghchalak was seen talking elaborately about cow protection in his over-an-hour long speech.

Bhagwat backed the cow vigilantes and said that they worked well within the legal framework and it would be unfair to link them with violence or 'communal feelings without knowing or neglecting the facts.'

In fact, he added that the gau rakshaks were working 'piously' for a cause and there was a 'nefarious campaign going on against the cow-protection (to) unnecessarily create tension.'

Bhagwat also said that cow vigilantes 'should not worry or get distracted with the well intentioned statements by highly placed persons in the Government or remarks made by the Supreme Court.'

This is not the first time Bhagwat has backed the cow protectors.

Last year also, in his Vijaydashmi speech, Bhagwat had said that gau rakshaks were good people, who were merely upholding the law of the land that calls for protection of animals from cruelty.

It must be noted that till July, 26 people had died in cattle-related violence, IndiaSpend report had said.
