Leader of one of the top crime gang of Punjab and prime accused in firing and murder of a Jodhpur based Businessman, gangster Lawrence Vishnoi issued threats to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on Friday claiming that he would kill the actor. Although the gangster has not given a reason for spewing venom against Khan, it is believed that Khan's linkup with the Blackbuck hunting case is the actual cause of threat. The reason is attributed to the sentiments of Vishnoi community towards these animals as they are worshipped by the community.

Not only has the man threatened the star, Vishnoi even claimed that he can flee the police custody whenever he wants.

On Friday, Vishnoi was brought to local court in Jodhpur for hearing in the murder case. As the man was brought out of court following the hearing, Vishnoi started issuing his threats and said, "I will murder him (Salman Khan) in Jodhpur only. I will flee from police custody whenever I want but I am not escaping from custody anytime soon."

After the gangster made his comments, the Jodhpur police is now on its toes. "Whatever the gangster said in the court, his statement has been taken on record by the police. Appropriate case will be registered under relevant sections," said Ashok Rathore, Commissioner - Jodhpur Police.

Highly placed sources in the Jodhpur police reveal that although there is nothing to worry from the threats, the police are not underplaying the same and efforts have been made to ensure that the gangster is unable to follow on his words.

Meanwhile, the court has given a seven-day remand of the gangster to the Jodhpur police to interrogate him in the murder case. It is expected that he will be cross examined in presence of other accused in the matter as well.

Lawrence was brought to Jodhpur from Faridkot on production warrant amidst tight security arrangements. His name surfaced in a cold-blooded murder of one Vasudev Israni, owner of a departmental store located on sardarpura road of Jodhpur. The police filed a challan in court last week and produced Lawrence in court on Friday.
