Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Congress party and the Gandhi family of using the warship INS Viraat as their "personal taxi" for a holiday back when Rajiv Gandhi was at the helm. Addressing his first rally in the National Capital on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said, "Ever imagined that a premier warship of the Indian armed forces could be used as a taxi for a personal holiday? One dynasty did it."

The Navy was made to host the Gandhi family and Rajiv Gandhi's in-laws, while a helicopter was also deployed in their service, PM Modi claimed. "INS Viraat was insulted by being used as a personal taxi. This happened when Rajiv Gandhi and his family were out for a 10-day vacation. INS Viraat was deployed for securing our maritime boundary. But it was diverted to take the Gandhi family, which was out for a vacation."

Earlier in the day, while addressing a rally in Haryana's Kurukshetra, he coined new nicknames for the Opposition Congress and AAP parties, calling them 'Naampanthi' and 'Nakampanthi' respectively. The blistering attack can be seen as being part of the BJP's strategy to intensify the campaigns in Haryana and Delhi, which will witness polling in the sixth phase on Sunday.

He told a large crowd at Kurukshetra of how the Opposition leaders have abused him, after he took steps to stop their corruption and challenged their dynastic politics.

"A Congress leader called me gandi naali ka keeda (insect), one leader called me a mad dog, another one called me 'Bhasmasura'. One more Congress leader, who was once the external affairs minister, called me a monkey, and another even compared me to Dawood Ibrahim!" Modi alleged. "They even abused my mother, asked who my father is, and remember, all this was after I became Prime Minister!"

In Delhi, meanwhile, he also spoke of issues that would resonate with the Capital's middle-class citizens, like its cosmopolitan culture, of his experiences as a commuter on the Delhi Metro, the RERA Act, and of increasing tax slabs.

He then turned his guns on the AAP. Though he was careful enough to not name anybody, he coined the word 'nakampanthi' to refer to AAP leaders. "These nakampathis first hurl abuses, and when caught, start apologising. These are the people who stood in support of the 'tukde tukde gang', went outside the country to meet anti-nationals. They are full of negativity and are standing like a wall in front of Vikaspanthis," he thundered.

He also blamed the AAP government in Delhi for not allowing benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme to reach its citizens, while the 10 per cent reservations for upper caste poor is also not being implemented in the Capital.
