Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said that irrespective of the assurances of security to minority communities by Centre, the future of BJP government will depend on how they withstand the pressure by RSS and other affiliated groups.

In a statement released here, the Congress leader charged that incidents of crime against minority communities have gone up instead of coming down despite the assurances made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

"... As a matter of fact, after the assurance of the prime minister, crimes against minorities whether Muslims or Christians have gone up considerably," Gehlot said in the statement.

"The central as well as the state government, uttering "Sab ka saath, sab ka vikas" has failed to fulfil the expectations of people and they are (now) trying to divert the attention of people by creating unnecessary controversies," it added.

Gehlot said the Home Minister Rajnath Singh has stated, "Though maintenance of law and order is a state subject but for the security of minorities I will do anything. I swear by God that shall go to any extent for this. I shall do everything required to obviate the feeling of insecurity in the hearts of all minority people."
