Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Udaipur district of Rajasthan on Saturday.
Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi addressed two rallies in poll-bound Rajasthan.
The Congress number two recalled the assassinations of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and his father Rajiv Gandhi in an emotionally charged speech in Churu, Rajasthan on Wednesday, and said he was not afraid if communal anger and hatred killed him someday, but would continue to fight against divisive forces in the country
The assembly polls in Rajasthan are scheduled to be held on December 1
Rajasthan is expected to witness a fierce battle between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Excerpts from Modi's speech:
* After the elections were announced in the state this is the first rally I have addressed in a poll bound state, Modi said, adding that he couldn’t have picked a better place than the hometown of Maharana Pratap.
* I was told this is the first time that the stadium has been filled.
* Does he have faith in his own chief minister Ashok Gehlot? If he does why would their leaders reach Gopalgadh? It shows that they have no faith in their Chief Minister.
* The shahzada was here recently. He spoke so much that the Congress leaders still haven’t understood what he said,” the BJP’s PM candidate said.
* “Recently there was a innauguration of a central project here. No scissors were available,” Modi said, mocking the Centre and state for ignoring the region.
* If the Minorities Commission cannot have faith in this government then can you?
* The National Human Rights Commission also has no faith in this state government…How can you have faith in it?
* This is a democracy and in a democracy every citizen has to go before the government to state his or her complaint. In Rajasthan , does any woman have the courage to go and meet a minister of this state?
* In India serials about family do well. That is why the shahzada thinks a family serial will work for him. As the polls come closer, he is running a family serial.
