Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari paid obeisance at the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer after having fruitful and constructive talks with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the latter's official residence, 7 Race Course Road.

At the Dargah, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said he felt at peace after visiting the Dargah for the first time.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, who landed in Delhi on Sunday afternoon for his day-long trip to Ajmer, earlier visted the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's official, 7 Race Course Road, residence.

Zardari, who landed in Delhi at 12.10 pm at the Palam Air Force Base (technical area) along with his son and heir apparent Bilawal Bhutto, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and some senior officials, was received by minister-in-waiting PK Bansal, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik among others.

Within minutes, the convoy of about 25 cars and an ambulance sped off to the Prime Minister's residence.

Attired in a dark coloured business suit, Zardari waved at the mediamen but did not oblige them with any comments. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who was dressed in a dark pathan suit, also waved at the media. He straight drove to the Prime Minister's official Race Course Road residence.

The entire route from the technical airport to the 7 RCR residence was sanitised with heavy police deployment. Delhi police commandos were also roped in.

Zardari, accompanied by his son Bilawal and Interior Minister Rehman Malik, was received at the reception area of the 7 RCR.

Manmohan Singh, who hosted a lunch for Zaradari and his 44-member delegation, said he had "very constructive and friendly exchange of views" on all bilateral issues with Zardari and was "very satisfied" with the outcome of the talks. He also said he would visit Pakistan "on a mutually convenient date".

"President Zardari and I have had a very constructive and friendly exchange of views on all bilateral issues, which affect relations between India and Pakistan," he said after 40 minutes of talks ahead of his luncheon with Zardari at his 7, Race Course Road residence.

"President Zardari is on a private visit and I have taken advantage this visit to discuss all the bilateral issues. And I am very satisfied with the outcome of this visit," Manmohan Singh said.

He said Zardari has invited him to Pakistan. "I would be very happy to visit Pakistan on a mutually convenient date."

"I would like to wish the people in India 'as salaam alaikum' from the president of Pakistan. I am grateful to the Indian PM for inviting me for lunch, although I am on a private visit. We have had some fruitful bilateral talks. We would like to have better relations with India. We have spoken on all topics that we could possibly discuss. We are hoping to meet on Pakistan soil very soon."

Sources said that Sonia Gandhi skipped the lunch hosted by the PM.

After the lunch, Zardari headed for Jaipur, from where he flew to Ajmer in a chopper.

He drove to the Dargah, which was shut for visitors during his visit, along with his son and other delegates, where he offered prayers.
