From January 1, you can file online FIR at Maharashtra police stations: CM Devendra Fadnavis

The government has planned to make every smart city should be safe. All cities will be covered with CCTV surveillance in phase manner.

From January 1, all police stations in the state will register first information report (FIR) online and complainant will receive a SMS and a copy of complaint on the Whatsapp, announced Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the last day of the winter session.

The government has planned to make every smart city should be safe. All cities will be covered with CCTV surveillance in phase manner. "Every police station will be online, paperless and every police station should register FIR electronically, as per the guidelines of the central government. Not a single state has done it. 

BJP government has initiated the process and completed the project. Every police station has the provision of registering online FIR, though they first registered manually and later put online because of lack of experience. The complainant will receive a SMS and a copy of FIR through Whatsapp, from January 1, There will be surprise check and the government will take a note of police station who will not go for online," said Fadnavis.

The CM also announced that all police stations be part of citizen's portal and all permissions will be issued through portal including Ganesh pandal permissions.
