Friends turn thieves, steal valuables worth Rs2.4 Lakh

The accused stole valuables and cash total worth Rs2.45 lakh while their friend was away for work.

Betraying the trust of their friend, four men gave in to greed and decided to steal from his house. They stole valuables and cash total worth Rs2.45 lakh while he was away for work. Three of the accused were arrested by the Ellisbridge police on Wednesday.

The four accused included Mohan, Nanu Dave, Dhiru Vankar, and Bhuvan Narhari, all residents of Ambawadi.  Alok Sharma, an event manager, stays at a rented house in Amrakunj society near Nehrunagar. He came in contact with the four and they became friends. On November 21, he left for a three-day official tour. Before leaving, he gave his house keys to Nanu and requested him to take care of the house in his absence. On his return on November 24, Sharma found that someone had stolen Rs1.78 lakh cash from his house. He talked to the four but they denied having any knowledge about it.  The next day, Dave stayed over at Sharma’s place. When Sharma woke up in the morning, he found that Rs37,000 cash along with 30 pairs of clothes worth Rs30,000 missing from his house. When he questioned Dave, he got thrashed by the four.

He then lodged a complaint at Ellisbridge police station on Tuesday. Mohan, Vankar and Narhari were arrested on Wednesday, while Dave is still absconding.
