Even as protests following Burhan Wani's killing refuse to ebb out in Kashmir, video of militants, dressed in army fatigues and suspected to be based in forest areas of the valley, continue to surface on social media websites.

More than a week after a video showing Hizbul Mujahideen's new militant commander along with four other militants started to do rounds in the valley, a new recording of 12 armed men, walking in a forest, surfaced this week, yet again alarming the security agencies in Kashmir. The youth leading the group is seen carrying a wireless set chanting anti-India and pro-Burhan slogans, while the others that follow him are seen armed with assault rifles, rocket launchers. Dressed in army fatigues, with some covering up their faces, all of the youth appear to be in their 20s. Their accent audible in the video does not appear to be typically of a Kashmiri resident.

A security official while speaking to dna said that they are yet to establish whether the video was recorded inside Kashmir or whether it was done in PoK, which has long been used by Pakistan to launch militants into Kashmir.

"Our focus continues to be on the law and situation in the Valley. We have taken notice of such videos appearing on social media and once situation normalises in the valley we will take appropriate action," said a senior security official based in Srinagar. Another security official told dna that the situation in the valley is showing signs of improvement but it was far from being conducive to initiate counter-insurgency operations.

The regular release of videos showing militants traveling or resting in lush Kashmir forests, according to officials in Kashmir, is to send a message about their presence in the valley. In the latest video that has been shared widely on social media, a youth, heading the group, raises a slogan, "This challenge (baazi) is a challenge of blood which you will loose. For each Burhan that you kill, every house will birth a Burhan", the suspected militant is heard saying before introducing himself as Tayib Burhan. The remaining gunmen, who follow him in a single line also introduce themselves while adding 'Burhan' to their first names. The youth identify themselves as Ali, Irfan,

Abdullah, Sultan, Saifullah, Rizwan, Amir, Aslam, Inam Roshan, Usman and Ahmed.
