Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas, including the famed Himalayan shrines, and light showers coupled with icy winds in the lower areas revived freezing cold conditions in Chamoli district on Monday.

Fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas, including the famed Himalayan shrines, and light showers coupled with icy winds in the lower areas revived freezing cold conditions in Chamoli district on Monday.
Snowfall which started in the higher reaches of the hills on Sunday night is still continuing. Icy winds and isolated drizzle swept the lower areas where freezing cold conditions have returned, District Disaster Management office here said.
Nandadevi National Park, Kedarnath Deer Sanctuary, Badrinath, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib besides Tungnath and Rudranath among the Panchkedars are receiving snowfall, it said. Though there was no rain in Dehradun, the sky remained overcast throughout the day.
