After two days of peace at the border, fresh firing was reported by Pakistan on Saturday in the Shahpur Kerni sector of Poonch District in Jammu at around 12.40 pm. According to the Army, Pakistan is mostly firing with small arms and mortars and Indian troops are also responding aptly.

The last ceasefire violation had occurred on Thursday when Pakistani troops fired along the International Border injuring eight persons, including three BSF jawans. Pakistan had resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and heavy firing with automatic weapons that targeted BSF posts along the International Border. In response, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley had said on Thursday that if Pakistan continues with this adventurism, then the Indian forces will make the cost of this adventurism unaffordable.

Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) D K Pathak had also said India will continue to retaliate as long as Pakistan does not refrain from violating the ceasefire across the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border.
