Four take oath as additional judges at Gujarat HC

Four newly-appointed judges took oath of office on Monday at the Gujarat high court.

Four newly-appointed judges took oath of office on Monday at the Gujarat high court. SH Vora, GR Udhwani, RD Kothari and SG Shah, all belonging to judicial service, have been elevated as additional judge.  Chief justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya administered them the oath of office at a ceremony at the high court. With this, the strength of the high court judges stands at 32 against the approved 43 posts for judges.

GR Udhwani was registrar general (RG) of Gujarat High Court while SH Vora was principal and district judge at City Civil and Sessions Court in Ahmedabad, SG Shah was a registrar of the Supreme Court, and R D Kothari was principal and district judge at Nadiad in Kheda district. Registrar (Judicial) MJ Thakkar has been appointed in-charge RG of GHC.

State Law Minister Dilip Sanghani, Minister of State for Law Pradipsinh Jadeja, President of Gujarat High Court Advocate’s association Vijay Patel, Advocate General Kamal Trivedi, Additional Advocate General Tushar Mehta and Government Pleader Prakash Jani, and relatives of the newly-appointed judges were present at the ceremony.
