Four persons, including a teenager, were injured in a clash between two groups over fight for a cricket pitch at a park in south Delhi's Mehrauli, police said on Wednesday. The police were informed about the quarrel around 6 pm on Tuesday.

When the police reached the Jamali Kamali Park, four persons were found there in injured conditions, an official said, adding they were rushed to a nearby hospital. The injured were identified as Abdul Samad (18), Sandeep (21), Nikhil (21) and Gokul (21), the police official said.

Sandeep said they had taken beer to celebrate birthday of their friend Narender and play cricket with tennis ball in the park, according to the official. Later, around five local boys arrived and insisted on using the pitch on which they were playing.

While an argument broke out betweeen the two sides, Abdul opened a kit bag containing a small knife and stabbed Sandeep and also attacked his friends, the official said. Abdul's friends Arman and Daanish fled the spot.

Some locals had alleged that the two sides got into a quarrel over a religious issue but the police denied the contention.
