Four policemen, including a senior official, were injured when an irate mob attacked a police station, protesting escape of a murder accused from custody. The incident took place on Sunday when a mob attacked Revti Police Station and pelted stones on the policemen after murder accused Bhim Turha, who was arrested last Saturday, fled from the police custody.
Four persons were arrested on Monday and an FIR has been lodged against the four and another 300 unidentified persons in this connection, SP R B Singh said. Besides, Police Station Incharge Shiv Mangal Singh and another policeman have been suspended and disciplinary action has been initiated against them on charges of laxity leading to the escape of the murder accused, the SP said.
Accusing the police of facilitating Turha's escape, the locals staged the protest and pelted stones which led to injuries to Shiv Mangal Singh and three others.
