Four Bihar cadre IAS officers sent back to state

Four IAS officers working with the central government have been sent back to Bihar, their cadre state.

The development comes 20 days after a new government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, took over in Bihar with the BJP's support.

Those sent back include senior bureaucrats Sunil Kumar Singh (1983 batch) and Subhas Sharma (1984 batch), said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

Singh is additional secretary in the agriculture ministry and Sharma additional secretary in the information and broadcasting ministry respectively, according to official records.

The other two headed back to Bihar are Uday Singh Kumawat (1993 batch) and A N Safeena (1997 batch).

While Kumawat is joint secretary in the department of revenue under the finance ministry, Safeena is development commissioner of the Cochin Special Economic Zone.

There are 243 IAS officers working in Bihar against the total authorised strength of 342.
