Foundation of Rs 12.67 cr RTO complex laid

The transport minister Jagdish Deora on Wednesday laid the foundation for modern RTO Complex at Nayta Mundla -to be built with an outlay of Rs 12.67 crore. Industry minister Kailash Vijayvergiya and ACS (Transport) Antony D'Sa could not make it to the event on account of various reasons. While addressing the gathering, Deora said that such modern complexes would be built in Bhopal, Gwalior & Jabalpur apart from Indore.

The minister said that the state government has assigned approval to Rs 1500 crore for upgradation of facilities for the transport department across the state and construction of transport offices in every district. "For the first time in history of transport department, CM has approved 349 posts for the department," Deora said, adding that requirement of such state-of-the-art RTO building was felt for long in the city.

Transport Commissioner Sanjay Chaudhary on the occasion said that the modern complex is being built in accordance with state's transport policy 2012.
The proposed complex would have deputy transport commissioner office, RTO, driving training school, test driving tracks and vehicle fitness centre. The modern complex would come up at 12-acre area under Rau assembly constituency. The IDA is nodal agency for constructing the modern complex and the transport department has given Rs 1 crore to IDA as advance payment. Significantly, the IDA already has finalised tender for the project in the last Board of Governors meeting.

Goof up leaves Jirati fuming
In a major goof up, the transport officers had taken Nayta Mundla area to be part of assembly no. 5 and invited MLA concerned Mahendra Hardia. However, the area falls in Rau constituency but MLA Jeetu Jirati was not invited. Though Jirati reached the venue and performed bhumi pujan, he sat in the last row despite requests from transport minister and industries minister Kailash Vijayvergiya on phone. MLA's supporters also prevented media persons from capturing Jirati’s video. RTO Sanjay Soni finally apologised to Jirati and convinced him to sit on the stage. A mellowed down Jirati, termed it as department's 'mistake' after the function
