BJP today received a jolt after its former Member of Parliament Subhash Deshmukh resigned from the party.

Subhash Deshmukh is a heavyweight leader of Western Maharashtra who became popular after defeating Ujwala Shinde, wife of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde from the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency.

Deshmukh had sought a ticket for his son Rohan Deshmukh from the Osmanabad Lok Sabha constituency which is merely 40 km away from the Solapur district border.

While talking to PTI today, Deshmukh expressed displeasure over BJP's behaviour and said that the party has no respect for loyalists.

Ironically, his son Rohan Deshmukh has not withdrawn his nomination from the Osmanabad Lok Sabha constituency and is all set to contest elections against Shiv Sena candidate Ravi Gaikwad.

Incidentally, former minister Padamsinh Patil is the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) candidate from the same constituency.
