Two persons killed the Kutch leader, family raise doubt over political rival Chhabil Patel
Former BJP MLA from Abdasa in Kutch Jayanti Bhanushali was found shot dead in Sayaji Nagari express train in the wee hours today. While Bhanushali was travelling to Ahmedabad from his hometown Bhuj for some work, two unidentified persons entered the AC coach and opened fired at him. Bhanushali sustained injuries in chest and near eye and died on spot. The incident happened at Surajbari village at around 2:00am, fellow traveller of Bhanushali confirmed.
The district police superintendent of Morbi Karanraj Vaghela said, "Incident happened between Surajbari and Kataria railway stations in wee hours. He sustained injuries in his eyes and chest. His dead body was brought to Maliya general hospital for post-mortem. Forensic and ballistic experts will investigate the case."
The police disclosed that the killer used a silencer to muffle the sound. Police are looking at all possible suspects but as of now, it looks to be work of a professional hitman. The PRO in Western Railway Pradip Sharma said, "Former MLA from Abdasa Jayanti Bhanushali was found murdered yesterday late night in a moving train going from Kutch to Ahmedabad. The train was stopped at a station for three hours after the incident. Bhanushali was found with a gun shot near his eyes.
Bhanushali came to active politics in the mid 80s and began his career from the panchayat level. He was elected to Kutch district Panchayat and Taluka Panchayat for several times. He served as Abdasa MLA during 2007 to 2012.Bhanushali's brother Shambhu alleged that his brother's political rival and BJP leader Chhabil Patel was behind this killing. Patel is in USA these days.
Bhanushali was facing rivalry from BJP leader from the same constituency, Chhabil Patel. Patel who was Congress candidate had defeated Bhanushali in 2012 assembly polls but then he joined BJP before Lok Sabha polls held in 2014. Patel was given ticket by BJP in by polls and reportedly Bhanushali worked against Patel violating the party line and Patel lost the polls. This incident increased animosity between the leaders.
Thereafter, Patel and Bhanushali were at loggerheads and his name was tossed in several controversial cases. Sex tapes of Bhanushali with a college student girl from Surat had also gone viral a few months back. The girl had filed FIR against the leader for allegedly luring and intimidating her for establishia ng sexual relationship. Bhanushali had reportedly promised her admission in a top fashion institution of Ahmedabad in exchange of sex. Bhanushali, on the other hand, had alleged that it was Chhabil Patel's conspiracy to defame him. However, later the girl withdrew the FIR and the reports of compromise between Bhanushali and Patel also came into light.
A month back Patel had filed a complaint against Bhanushali for sending goons to intimidate his son with a gun. As per the complaint, Patel's son while travelling to Gandhinagar from Ahmedabad in his car, was stopped by some people midway, who flashed a gun and threatened to kill him and his father.
The Gujarat police has ordered to form a joint team for the probe of the case. As per the order Anti Terrorist Squad, State Crime Branch and Gujarat Railway Police will investigate into the case jointly.
