Former actress Nagma becomes the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress

Nagma Moraraji, who had campaigned for Congress in several elections, and former Maharashtra Minister Varsha Gaikwad are among the 11 General Secretaries of the All India Mahila Congress.

Former actress and Congress leader Nagma was appointed on Tuesday as the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress, while former DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh was made the chief of Mahila Congress for Delhi unit.

Nagma Moraraji, who had campaigned for Congress in several elections, and former Maharashtra Minister Varsha Gaikwad are among the 11 General Secretaries of the All India Mahila Congress. The team of office bearers of Mahila Congress at the national-level approved by the party Vice President Rahul Gandhi also include 9 secretaries.

Shobha Oza, who is also party spokesperson, is the head of the Mahila Congress. Charulata Tokas, daughter of the late Rajasthan Governor Prabha Rau, was made the head of the Maharashtra unit of the Mahila Congress. Susila Negi was appointed as the head of the Himachal Pradesh unit, while Subratta Dutta was made the head of West Bengal unit.

The former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, Barkha Shukla Singh, was at loggerheads with the Arvind Kejriwal government after she issued summons to AAP leader Kumar Vishwas in the wake of a complaint against him. Later, the Delhi government had issued her a show cause notice.

The announcement about the office bearers of the All India Mahila Congress and of four-state Mahila Congress was made by AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi.
