Amid tension in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh over scheduled 'reconversion' programme by Hindu right outfit Dharma Jagaran Samiti, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said forced conversion should be banned in the country.
"We want religious conversion, especially forced religious conversion, to be banned in the country. The issue should be debated at a meeting of all parties and if everybody agrees, forced conversion should be banned," Modi told reporters in Patna.
"There are instances of forced religious conversion in Bihar too and such practices should be stopped," he said.
