A day after three activists were held for allegedly thrashing to death a 45-year-old Muslim man, Yogi Adityanath's Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) has decided not to accept any new members for the next six months or even a year, reported News18.com

The Hindu Yuva Vahini, founded in 2002, had reportedly seen a robust spike in membership, with the outfit receiving over 5000 applications on an average every day.

However, with the involvement of some of its members in violence, the right-wing organisation will not accept any new members for the next six months or even a year.

The outfit's General Secretary PK Mall said that the organisation believes that goons from non-BJP parties were posing as its members and carrying out violent attacks in the name of gau raksha and love jihad.

"Goons from Samajwadi party are wearing a Bhagwa Gamcha (saffron stole) and indulging in violence. We have asked our members to be careful," he said.

Mall also claimed that leaders in thr group were frequently getting complaints that people with a criminal record were trying to infiltrate the organisation.

After Adityanath took over as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, the outfit started offering membership for free and also issued guidelines for induction of new members. However, it had said that the candidates would have to undergo a one-year scrutiny process, including a background check and verification to know whether they had any previous inclination towards any political party.

Last week, Adityanath had warned the workers of HYV to maintain decent behaviour in whatever work they do. He had also advised them not to misuse the saffron colour, as the image of the outfit or the BJP would suffer. "I request the HYV leaders and workers to behave with decency," said Adityanath.

Defending his party, he added that anyone with a saffron scarf who commits any indecent and illegal act is not always a HYV leader.
