With TDP MPs intensifying their protests over the issue of the Centre not granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh, the MPs of the YSR Congress, too, intensified their protests and resigned from their positions in the Parliament.

Submitting their resignations to the Speaker of the Lower House, the MPs said that it was already decided that if the Special Status issue was not taken up, they will resign. YSR Congress leader Jaganmohan Reddy had asked his MPs in Andhra Pradesh on March 27 that if the Parliament is adjourned sine die, they should resign. He had also invited the TDP to join their protest.

Soon after the five MPs — YV Subba Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, Vara Prasada Rao, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy and Midhun Reddy — sent in their resignations, Jaganmohan Reddy tweeted that they keep their promises.

"We do as we say! YSRCP MPs are submitting their resignations today. I challenge @ncbn (Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu) to make TDP MPs resign and stand united with the people of AP in their rightful demand of special category status for Andhra Pradesh," his tweet read.
