Five-year-old boy dies after falling into borewell in Andra Pradesh

A five-year-old boy, who fell into a borewell, died in Pallemkunta village under Malhar police limits, nearly 75 km from here this afternoon.

Five-year-old K Ajith, the only son of Raju and Saramma, fell into a borewell in a field in Pallemkunta, Gadavarikhani Deputy Superintendent of Police G Udaykumar Reddy said.

While rescue operations were on by digging a parallel well, villagers gathered there offered prayers to see the boy alive.

Police and revenue officials rushed to the spot after hearing of the incident and tried to rescue the boy, but all efforts proved futile, as the well was full of water, villagers said.
