A fire broke out at an adhesive factory in Kolkata on Monday late evening. Earlier, the source of fire was from a cable wire that snapped on a lamp post and later spread to the nearby adhesive godown.
So far as many as 10 engines are working at the spot and a ladder has been pressed into service. While there are no casualties, the fire is yet to be brought under control by the fire department officials.
West Bengal Minister for Disaster Managent Javed Khan rushed to the spot. The minister said that the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained and the godown is illegal. Fire officials are still trying to douse the fire.
According to workers of the factory, nobody was inside the premises and the factory was shut. “The fire brigade came very fast and they did a great job. Nobody was inside the factory. The gates were shut,” said Sanjay Dutta, a worker in the factory.
“I, along with another worker got hurt. He was rushed to the nearby hospital. Thankfully, nobody was inside,” said another worker.
