Fire at writer Jyotindra Dave’s house in Surat

A cracker blast resulted in a fire at noted writer Jyotindra Dave’s house in Amliraan mohalla in Surat early on Monday morning. Household items were destroyed but no casualties were reported in the incident.

Residents of the area were firing crackers on Dhanteras. A rocket landed on the first floor of house no. 9/778 belonging to Jyotindra Dave at 1.55 am on Monday. Sparks flew and a fire broke out. Along with wooden flooring and wooden window frames, some of the old furniture was destroyed in the fire. Structure of the house sustained minor damage due to fire. Jitendra Harishankar, owner of the house, immediately informed fire officials. It took firefighters one hour to put out the flames. No casualties were reported.
