An FIR has been lodged against a ruling Samajwadi Party MLA and five others in connection with the alleged kidnapping, raping a woman and grabbing her land in Bhogajit Nagariya village in Badaun.

The Sahaswan police last night lodged the FIR against local MLA Omkar Singh Yadav, his relative Jugender Singh, sub-registrar Vimal Kumar Shukla and others on the directive of the chief judicial magistrate Punit Kumar Gupta, SSP Santosh Kumar Singh said.

The nephew of the woman Maalwati, who was living alone in the village, had complained that she was kidnapped on July 17, 2013, and kept in captivity for one and a half months. The woman was raped and then had her thumb impression taken forcibly on some papers, thus transferring her land to the MLA's relative in the presence of the MLA and sub registrar Vimal Kumar.

Taking serious note of the matter, Chief Judicial Magistrate Punit Kumar Singh directed the Sahaswan police last Saturday to lodge an FIR as per the details given in the complaint and investigate the matter.

The nephew, Banwari had also alleged that he had paid a ransom of Rs 50,000 to get her freed, the SSP said.

Efforts were made to reach out to the MLA but his phone was switched off.
