Filing of nominations for Rajasthan civic polls to begin tomorrow

Filing of nomination papers for the November 22 elections to 46 civic bodies, including six municipal corporations, will begin on Friday. The process of filing of nomination papers will begin with an official notification and will go on till November 22, Rajasthan Chief Election Commissioner Ram Lubhaya said on Thursday.

Scrutiny of the papers will take place on November 12 and withdrawal of nominations will be allowed till November 14. EVMs will be used in the polls and results will be announced on November 25, he added.

Polling will be held in six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Bharatpur, 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities, the CEO said. Over 63.09 lakh electors are expected to cast their votes at 6,135 polling booths in 1,696 wards on November 22 from 7 am to 6 pm. The model code of conduct comes into effect forthwith, Lubhaya said.

Special Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh said fool-proof security arrangements are being made for free and fair polls in the state.
