A feud in Sheila Dikshit's family has thrown spanners in Congress party's political campaign in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Days after Dikhsit was nominated as chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming UP elections, her son Sandeep Dikshit, also a former MP, has mounted a stinging attack on Delhi Congress unit chief chief Ajay Maken accusing him of having tried to falsely implicate his mother, the then Delhi chief minister in the CWG scam and create an atmosphere to "discredit" her ahead of assembly polls in 2013. The Congress has, however, distanced itself from the controversy and calls it an internal issue of Dikshit family.

In an online article Sandeep curiously put gun on Maken's shoulder to aim at his mother. He mentioned how Maken attacked his mother and prepared a false synopsis of the CAG Commonwealth Games inquiry report and leaked it to the media, while the actual report didn't mention any such charge. His attack has come at a time when the Congress was projecting Dikshit as a "goddess of development" in UP. The issue is likely to give a handle to party's opponents, to queer its pitch in UP.

"It is the family's internal matter. This does not affect the credibility of out CM candidate," said Ghulam Nabi Azad, general secretary in-charge for UP.

When contacted, Maken refused to comment. Sandeep said he wrote the blog to clarify his position after a journalist speculated about his leaving the party for greener pastures."As far as the Congress set-up at the national level is concerned, I am informed that I am not particularly liked for my rebellious nature and irreverent attitude."

He also said the "political vehicle" of the Congress is the "pivot" around which a large coalition can take shape."Even as late as three-four weeks back, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) leader was cajoling journalists to hype up the water tanker issue." He said the Congress was staging a comeback on the strength of the 15 years of its rule in Delhi, which was discredited by the very person who is reaping that benefit now.

"This leadership has prospered by being her counterpoint, and has made abusing her its rallying point," he said, adding for the current Delhi leadership, she remained a source of "grave concern and fear".In the blog, Sandeep also attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre and the AAP dispensation in the city.
