In a shocking incident, a father allegedly threw four of his five daughters out from a moving train in Uttar Pradesh.
One Afreena Khatoon, 36, has told police officials her husband, Iddu Mian, 42, hurled their daughters out from Kamakhya-Katra Express on the intervening night of October 23 and 24, according to a Hindustan Times report.
“I paid the price for giving birth to girls,” mother Afreen cries as she sat beside daughter Algun in the hospital.
The train was passing through Sitapur, about 90 km north of Lucknow, when Iddu threw out his daughters one by one.
"Muniya died because of me. I did not even know when Iddu threw out our four daughters. I was sleeping with my youngest daughter on another seat,” Afreen said.
She believed it was after midnight her husband threw out their daughters when everyone in the train were sleeping.
When Afreena woke up and asked Iddu where her daughters were, he simply replied : “Fek diye (I threw them).”
“Paanch-paanch ladkiyan ko kaun palat aur kaun shadi karawat (who will feed five girls and arrange for their marriages),” Iddu added.
“He threatened to throw me and Shehzadi out if I raised an alarm,” Afreena claimed.
Afreen said she kept quiet till they reached Jammu as she was scared of his death threats and finally when they reached he abandoned them.
However, Algun Khatoon, one of the daughters who survived to live the horrifying tale, has been admitted to Sitapur district hospital with a shattered leg.
When police found a body at the Maigalganj railway tracks in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 25, Algun identified it as her mother’s.
However, everyone was shocked at the village when mother Afreena turned up at her native village in Bihar’s West Champaran districtwith her two-year-old daughter Shehzadi.
Afreena said Iddu left Bihar to work in Jammu and she decided to stay with her children at Jhakra. She claims her husband never fulfilled his responsibilities as her husband and father in their 13 years of marriage.
When he came back from Jammu this time, he inisted on taking his wife and their children to Jammu. Afreena's mother Rabeena was against it at first, however, she agreed to it.
Afreena, who is still unaware of the fate of her daughter three daughters, now only wish her mother stopped her and her children from boarding the train.
