The rape incident came to light at 2.30 am on Tuesday night when the residents of Yagyashala Baori spotted the girl lying on the stairs of a stepwell. The girl was sleeping with her parents at her home, from where she went missing.
When the parents reached police station to lodge a ‘missing complaint’, cops told them that they had found a girl and admitted her to JK Lon Hospital. “The parents were taken to hospital where they identified her,” said the Kotwali ACP Cheev Singh who was investigating the case.
The medical examination confirmed that the child was raped. She was in a serious condition due to blood loss and had to be operated. “The operation lasted for two hours.
Although she is stable, she is not out of danger and has been kept under observation,” said Dr Chetan Sharma, head of surgical unit number two at the hospital. The Nahargarh police have registered a case.
The ACP said, “The locals and even the girl’s mother suspected Ganesh of committing the crime. When we strictly interrogated him, he confessed to raping the girl. Blood sampling also established his involvement in the crime.”
