The Faridabad Police have arrested three people in connection with beating up an auto driver over suspicion of carrying beef on Friday in Haryana's Faridabad.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ram Kishore (21), Dilip (19) and Lakhan (24).
The self-styled cow vigilantes assaulted five people and also thrashed an auto driver chanting ‘Jai Hanuman’.
The victims were identified as brothers Isaan Mohammad and Shahzad, along with Shakeel, Sonu, and Azad Mohammad, all residents of Faridabad. The incident took place in the morning, when auto driver Azad was on his way to deliver the meat to a shop. He was accompanied by an employee of the meat supplier, Sonu, and three others.
Last month, the Supreme Court directed all state governments to appoint a senior police officer as a nodal officer in each district to ensure that incidents of cow vigilantism are prevented and dealt with effectively.
